I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing Helleruin live twice, and I can confidently say that Charcost and his band put on a hell of a show. While he plays all instruments on the albums, his live role—waving around a bottle of red wine—is that of the vocalist.
With this 7” EP/CD single, Helleruin storms into 2025—perhaps paving the way for a new full-length album. The two tracks, Reapers of the Whirl I & II, stay true to the finest Helleruin tradition, with clear nods to Taake and other similar acts.
Melodic Black Metal with a strong presence of bass, which sits thick in the production. The EP’s twelve-minute runtime is far too short, as this definitely leaves you craving more. Hopefully, this release serves as a precursor to a full album later this year.
Once again, Helleruin delivers a strong release. The EP is available through New Era, but be quick—only 100 copies exist.
