Corpusculum was formed in 1991, bringing together members from the underground metal scene, including musicians who had been active in bands like Malefic, Belphegor, and Inverted Pentagram. The band quickly made a mark in the early ’90s with a series of raw and intense demo releases. Between 1991 and 1993, they released three demos, one of which was a split with the band Satanic Death. These early recordings captured the unfiltered, chaotic spirit of the time and earned the band a small but dedicated following in the underground.
In 1993, Corpusculum was put on hold as its members pursued other projects or drifted away from the scene. Nearly two decades later, in 2012, the project was revived. This resurgence led to a reissue of the Echidna demo in 2015 by Kaladruna Records, and a new release of the Year of the Goat demo through We Are Different Records, bringing renewed attention to the band’s earlier material.
The comeback didn’t stop there. Corpusculum went on to release a split tape with Inverted Pentagram, further solidifying the connection between the two acts. This was followed by two new Demo/EP releases on cassette: Bagabi Laca Bachabein 2017 and In Domo Alchimae in 2020. That same year, a limited edition CDr was also released, compiling the Year of the Goat and Bagabi Laca Bachabe demos for collectors and longtime fans.
Now, after years of laying the groundwork and refining their sound, Corpusculum is currently in the studio working on their long-awaited debut full-length album, The Age of Leviathan. The album is scheduled for release later this year and will be available on CD through Merg&Been and War Productions. This marks a new chapter for the band—one that builds on their obscure legacy while pushing their sound into darker and more ambitious territory.
